Hello ...

Hello everyone.  I figured I would just introduce myself and see who else is out there.  My name is Brian and I live in Virginia.  I am married and have one son who is 2 years old.  I signed up for PKEdge after attending the PK in Charleston, West Virginia.  I am looking forward to being active on the site and looking forward to learning from other Godly men around the world.

Well, lets get to the meat of it.  My number one problem for me currently is staying too busy.  I am so busy that I get nothing done, if that makes since.  I let little things distract me in great ways.  I have already taken steps to cut out some distractions, now I have to keep an eye out for others and then start putting together the things I should be working on and work to make progress on them.  A couple steps I took the next day home after PK, I deleted all the "game applications" from my Facebook page, small, silly games that took way too much time and thought from me during the day and really have no positive purpose.  I told my wife that I will use Facebook and Myspace solely as a social network (keep up with friends and such) and only check on the weekends for limited times.  I also told my wife that I wasn't going to check my email so often.  I would get home and check it 5 or 6 times before going to bed.  So I decided to cut it down to just one time, just before bed.  I also signed up for this site.  So with that I am on the way to winning over being too busy.

What is everyone else struggling with, what are you doing to stay on top of it?  Any suggestions/ideas that have worked for you to help get priorities right and not stay so busy all the time?

God Bless,

Brian in VA

Re: Hello ...

Hey Brian, PKEditor here in Colorado.  Great to hear from you.  I think you could do a seminar.  Your first steps seem really on the mark.  Even though "surfing" is part of my job, I risk wandering too much on issues that don't move me closer to Christ.

I'm a former "Crackberry" addict too.   Always having e-mails at my hip helped me respond to issues, but then there's all that time wasted looking for e-mails that never came.  I have to confess, ego (feeling important) is a part of the equation.  Your method (check e-mails once in the evening) is a winner!  Take back your evenings!

Bottom line: our technology tools should serve us, not the other way around.

Other comments out there?

Re: Hello ...

Hello Brian, I am Terry from Florida. I understand the getting so busy you don't get anything done. I have to constantly watch how "full my plate gets" I too have cut down on how many times I check my email, (now down to once in the evenings) I signed up for a facebook account but now don't even use it. What part of Va are you from. I am originally from Harrisonburg Va.
